teri scott named west edgecombe principal

The Edgecombe County Board of Education named Teri White Scott as the new principal for West Edgecombe Middle School at the Oct. 10 Board meeting, following the resignation of former principal, Dr. Laverne Daniels.
Scott comes to Edgecombe County from Wake County Public Schools where she has been an Assistant Principal since 2002 and served as the interim principal at East Wake School of Integrated Technology in 2007.
Scott earned two of her three master’s degrees, one in school administration and the other in parks, recreation and tourism management at North Carolina University, her other master’s in special education she earned at North Carolina Central University. She also received her bachelor’s of arts degree in communications from NCSU while on an athletic scholarship for women’s basketball.
Though she began her career in communications in 1993, Scott took a different career path in 1996 when she began teaching special education at Athens Drive High school in Raleigh. She later became the co-department chair for the special education program at East Wake and Middle Creek High Schools in Raleigh from May 2000 to Nov. 2002 when Scott began her career as an Assistant Principal at Garner Senior High School.
Scott will start as principal of West Edgecombe Oct. 18.
