*Tonight “Tavis Smiley Reports: Too Important to Fail” will air at 8 pm (7 pm Central) on PBS. Author, activist and journalist Tavis Smiley issues yet anothor of his primetime specials.  This one in particular takes on the gripping reality that many of our schools are failing boys; who are systemically performing at lower academic levels and are more likely to become high school drop outs.  Smiley has become renown for asking the hard questions and taking on issues of advocacy, diversity and accountability.  Tonight’s special will approach the significant crisis in our educational system as it relates to African American young men. Tom Joyner Rips Tavis Smiley and Cornel West for Their Hatred Toward President Obama

Several days after MSNBC suspended host Mark Halperin for calling President Barack Obama a “d***,” radio host Tom Joyner decided to confront two of the strongest voices in black America for their ill-advised rants against the nation’s first black president. Joyner recently issued a statement condemning Tavis Smiley and Cornel West for turning their personal issues against the president into hateful commentary that’s similar to white racists. Cornel West and The Blackness Patrol

I’m not a fan of Cornel West nor his buddy in the "Obama isn’t black enough" club, Tavis Smiley. West identifies himself as a part of the black intellectual elite and as such, fully expected that he would play a pivotal role in Obama’s campaign and be an often consulted advisor of the nation’s first black president. His issues with Obama began when Senator Obama was running for office. The commitment that West, Smiley and others demand from Obama is to support black interests at the costs of all others. Tavis Smiley – Lessons from the birther debate (It is okay to have our differences with other black folks but we can not be ignant to the facts C. Dancy II–The Political Agitator)

I know there are some black folks who do not fully support our President but damn you need to step to the plate when you can definitely hit a home run when it comes to other folks ignance. It is okay to have our differences with other black folks but we can not be ignant to the facts and don’t say anything.

I speak to this all the time. There are some folks whom I know personally in Edgecombe County and across the state whom I have serious issues with however I am not going to uphold others ignorance when I hear them say something that is not right about those I have issues with when I know they are misleading others. You see you only show your own ignance when you allow others to mislead folks about someone when you know the truth.
