The phone calls from recruiting services and the visits from college coaches soon will end for Tarboro’s Todd Gurley.
The senior, who led Tarboro to its third consecutive NCHSAA 2-A state football title in December, is ready to make his college choice, and that announcement will happen at 2 p.m. Friday in his school’s gymnasium. (More)

TARBORO — When Tarboro traveled to East Duplin to take on the Panthers in the third round of the 2-A playoffs football game Friday night, I went there expecting the Panthers to have a slight edge with their 12th man, better known as the fans. That is normal. What I didn’t expect was that a 13th man would be involved – the referees. (Read more)

TARBORO — At the beginning of the season, the Tarboro Vikings set three goals — return to the state championship game, win the Eastern Plain Conference and beat its nemesis and county rival the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars.
Friday night the Vikings (9-0, 4-0) conquered one third of its goal by beating the Cougars 32-16 in front of one of the largest crowds ever assembled at a football game in Tarboro. The victory snapped the Cougars’ five-game-winning streak over the Vikings. (Read more)

Congratulations to the Tarboro High Vikings.
I do believe the Cougars could have beat you all if we had not had a bad game. But sometimes this happens. The mistakes that the Cougars had I believe was the deciding factor. I would say Tarboro had a bad night if they had not capitalized on the Cougars mistakes. Not so, they did what they needed to do and therefore they have bragging rights and I ain’t mad with them.

There is a recurring theme plaguing the Northern Nash football team at the end of games. A close call here, a fumble there and then there was Friday night against Tarboro.
The play, with just 12 seconds remaining on the scoreboard, started as a harmless punt that most likely would have sent the game to overtime, but a snap over the head of punter Jamarl Davis sailed out of the back of the endzone for a safety. (Read more)

I am very upset with the following junk that is going on at THS such as:Dr Cooke has made up a class to push seniors out of school regardless of their grades and attendance called CREDIT RECOVERY. We are suppose to have high standards for our children but instead, she is lowering the standards so our drop out rate will not make her look bad. Also, students that had been withdrawn from school were still allowed to take the EOC test and then they were re enrolled. How can you test a student that have been withdrawn?A kid was caught smoking a blunt and was only given 2 days suspension and attend STARS.What happened to out schools protecting the other kids from drugs! No resource officer did any paperwork on him per Dr Cooke.I really think that the Central Office should come look from the inside out instead of looking from the outside in then they will see that Dr Cooke needs to GO!!!She is really destroying our students.
