Leader wants ‘mass search’ of area where bodies were found – Source: The Rocky Mount Telegram

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on January 20, 2011

Juray and Bruce Tucker had asked Edgecombe County Sheriff James Knight to come to the Friday meeting of Parents and Relatives of the Missing and Murdered, but Knight said he could not make it. So when he showed up that night, Juray Tucker said her heart sank. (Read more)

Note: Has there not already been a mass search in the area? This is a lot of ground but maybe it could be done. It appears to me that it has been hunters on these properties whom have found the previous remains and I strongly feel it will be the hunters whom will find any other missing remains that may be out there. And then again I would think that since the last remains have been found that some type of search would be the order of the day anyway. I be glad when this is all over because it is beginning to be quite much. C. Dancy II – The DCN Publisher

Longtime sheriff faces newcomer – Source: Rocky Mount Telegram

Republican Arthur Braswell Jr. said he threw his hat in the ring for Edgecombe County sheriff after growing tired of a lack of alternative candidates for voters to choose from. (Read more)

Note: So who is this joker? I have never heard of him nor seen him that I can remember since being actively engaged in politics dating back to the early 90’s. However I have received some messages from someone who are supposedly close to him and the information I have received has not been good.

I received information that he was charged with a DWI and has recently came off of or still may be possibly on probation. I was told that when he left the Rocky Mount Police Department it didn’t look good.

I was told that Braswell didn’t live with his wife and the rumor is that he was suppose to have remarried. Someone told me to look him up on the internet. I was told this was the link. So I find it strange that Braswell did not mention his wife in the article and if he has any children since I do not know anything about him. Several others have asked me about him since hearing about he was a candidate for Sheriff.

Since Braswell says he is on Facebook I am going to visit his page to see more on who is Arthur Braswell Jr. LMBAO C. Dancy II – DCN Publisher

Robert Draper Who Wrote The GQ Magazine Article “The Lost Girls Of Rocky Mount” Interview On Local Radio Station

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on June 24, 2010

This dude started out crazy as hell to me when he talked about he learned about the murdered and missing women from a friend from Rocky Mount NC. He thought this would be a good story because of the voter turnout during the President Barack Obama Election.

I am trying to figure out what in the hell does President Barack Obama election has to do with these women since Draper repeated it several times about the election and nothing was done as it relates to the women. He stressed this because our President is black.

I found Draper’s conversation to be quite interesting because he felt that the Edgecombe County Sheriff Department was uncooperative with him. He stated that he was not given information but later came back and said that he did have all of the public information that was public record. And he also said that he understood since it was an ongoing case that law enforcement normally don’t share information.

Chief Police John Manley was on the show last week and spoke to the interview. Draper spoke to that as well.

Dave Perkins has stated several times that he felt Draper did a good job of telling who the women really were, the human side of them. I say not!!

I am trying to figure out how in the hell do Draper think that just because Pittman was a sex offender that he should have been automatically checked out.

I am still trying to figure out what was behind Draper’s comment of these women record was much longer than Pittman’s record.

After reading the GQ Magazine and listening to this interview, I wonder what was his real motive.

Listen to the interview, “The Best of Robert Draper” on FM 99.3.

George Fisher Connections Talk Show Host on WNCR TV was in the studio during the show and you can hear his comments as well.

Press Release: Barry Saunders Article, Please explain Chief

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on June 18, 2010

Press Release: Barry Saunders Article, Please explain Chief

Date: June 16, 2010

CONTACT: John H. Manley, Jr, Chief of Police

252-972-1473

The purpose of this press release is to provide clarity to comments that were attributed to me and printed in the GQ magazine by reporter Robert Draper. Also, I am providing this release due to these comments were later reprinted by Barry Saunders with the News and Observer along with additional editorial by him.

I am a 30 year law enforcement veteran who has always cared about mankind and throughout these investigations that were led by the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation I have expressed privately and publicly on numerous occasions my condolences and heartfelt sympathy to these families. I have attended memorial services and community support gatherings for these families where I again expressed my deepest condolences and pledge to do everything we could to bring these cases to a positive resolve.

The comments quoted in the GQ magazine clearly are taken out of context of the conversation being held between reporter Robert Draper and me. We were conversing in general about cases and the public’s level of involvement. He specifically spoke to me about the community gatherings that were held by the MOM’s group and my response to that was I felt it was good for citizens to be involved as it demonstrated they cared about their love ones. I did say that citizens should stay on Law Enforcement to ensure their case is being thoroughly investigated.

The men and women of the Rocky Mount Police Department care about all citizens and work all cases with impartiality.

So What Was Chief John Manley Rocky Mount NC Police Department Comment In GQ Magazine Really All About?

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on June 14, 2010

I have heard that a couple of folks have said they were misquoted as it relates to their interview in the GQ Magazine. I was told that a local reporter was in the number. This is funny because this means a reporter “qot” misquoted or it could have been something said off the record. LMBAO

Today I read the article “National media report on alleged serial killings splits local opinions” in the Rocky Mount Telegram. As I began to re-read the article on today I became disgusted when I got to the 2nd page of the interview with the cabbie. The cabbie talked about how he knew these girls and how he transported them to one of the grubby motels on Highway 301. He said a john had bought them a room whereby they would smoke cocaine and turn tricks. Now I find it hard to believe that this cabbie was the only one who was aware of this. Why didn’t the cabbie, the motel owners and others who were aware of this not report what was happening at the motel to the police?

See the comments at the end of the article.

Today I read Barry Saunders’ column “Please explain, chief” in the News and Observer and found it to be quite interesting. The article focused on Chief Manley’s comment, "They need to stay on law enforcement," he said. "You have to stay on us. Let us know that you’re not going away until you know we’ve done everything we possibly could do. "Because if you don’t care," said the chief, "I don’t know why we should."

I do not know what the chief was talking about. I would need more clarity before I speak on that statement. I can’t answer for Chief Manley. After all of this about the chief’s comments, just maybe he will address the issue. However until that time I am not going to waste my time trying to figure out what he meant by his comment.

What I am tired of is folks spending more time raising issues about what law enforcement has not done and is not doing when they really can’t answer either. This is a complicated issue and I will repeat that I feel strongly there has been a real problem because some of the girls were not reported missing by their family members. And then when they did report them missing, so much time had elapsed.

I feel when the saga about the missing and murdered women really hit the news, law enforcement was criticized for not doing anything, not enough and etc. But damn what about those who actually knew they were missing but said nothing. But what could law enforcement really do if the girls had not been reported missing by family members?

I believe that media attention is good but the type of media attention this is getting is not the right attention needed. It appears that it is all about agendas, who like who and other mess that in my opinion will not help solve the murders. But maybe I am wrong.

I long for the day when the articles stick to the issue of the women being missing and murdered and information that can help find them and or who murdered them.

See the comments at end of News & Observer article.
