Tarboro man drowns on fishing trip – Source: Daily Southerner

TARBORO — An Edgecombe County Board of Education member’s spouse died in a boating accident Tuesday off Morehead City.

Robert Johnson, 65, the husband of Dr. Evelyn Johnson, District 3 school board member, drowned in what a N.C. Wildlife Commission Law Enforcement Division official called an unusual accident around 9 a.m. near the Shackleford and Meadow Marsh Sound area. (Read more)

morehead city — A Tarboro man drowned Tuesday morning after falling from a boat into Back Sound, according to the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission.

WRC Master Officer Ryan Taylor said Robert Johnson, 65, was a passenger on a 17-foot center console Century boat with a 70-horsepower engine being operated by Reginald Willoughby, 45, of Princeville. The two were fishing. (Read more)

I received a message to my Facebook this morning about the drowning of Bro. Robert Johnson. After making a few phone calls I finally got it confirmed although I had seen a posting on Facebook by a very close friend of the family. However I still can’t believe it is true.

I understand Bro. Robert Johnson was doing one of the things he loved to do most, fishing.
