I was impressed again with Dr. Wayne Talley Superintendent Edgecombe County Public Schools as he spoke to the Conetoe Chapel MBC congregation this morning. Rev. Richard Joyner is the pastor of the church.
Dr. Talley stressed to the children and the adults that one person can make a difference. Dr. Talley showed a short video of how one man made a difference at a professional basketball game. This man just happened to be Maurice Cheeks former coach of the Philadelphia 76’ers. During a game an eighth grader was singing the National Anthem and she forgot some of the words and Cheeks walked over and stood with her. He coached her through the song and by doing so the other team and others in the arena song it with her.
Dr. Talley said if all of us would stand with a child we could make a difference in their lives.
Dr. Talley spoke briefly on the budget cuts within the school system and why he came up with his restructuring proposal.
Dr. Talley seems to be passionate about Edgecombe County Public Schools. I believe he has done his homework and knows what the county needs.
Board member Attorney Teresa D. Bryant was present.
