Annexation petition ruled unconstitutional, "Good Neighbors" to keep fighting – WITN

LENOIR COUNTY,N.C.(WNCT)- People who refuse to be annexed into neighboring cities are not giving up their fight.  On Monday a superior court judge ruled a recent state law allowing people to block annexation with a petition unconstitutional.

State representative Stephen LaRoque formed the group, The Good Neighbors of Kinston three years ago.  He supported county residents by getting a law passed last year.  It allowed them to block annexation by signing a petition.  Now it’s been ruled unconstitutional and it’s back to square one for people who don’t want to live in the city limits. Judge to rule whether plant site rezoning suit will go to trial–Source: The Rocky Mount Telegram

NASHVILLE — An N.C. Superior Court judge ruled Monday that several local residents can remain as plaintiffs pursuing one of two lawsuits against Nash County which allege county officials purposely rezoned tracts of land to entice a Sanderson Farms poultry processing plant. (Paid Content)

The family of John William Perry, who was killed Feb. 14 when he was hit by several vehicles on U.S. 64, wants to know if the actions of law enforcement and government officials contributed to his death. (Paid Content)
