Butterfield to Visit Robersonville Monday
Robersonville, N.C. – Congressman G. K. Butterfield will visit on Monday, February 21 to see the progress on a hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing project, and to take part in a Black History Month program at East End Elementary School.
Over the past few years, Butterfield has secured more than $4.1 million in federal funds for the development of a hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing facility through the Martin County Economic Development Corporation and its partner, Microcell.
In February 2007, the Raleigh-based Microcell acquired an 80,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Robersonville, and that company has been working toward large-scale manufacturing of hydrogen fuel cells.
Butterfield will be touring the facility, speaking with company officials and learning about the progress made toward full-scale production.
Later, Butterfield will be visiting East End Elementary School to take part talk with students about the importance of Black History Month. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month and as a time to recognize and celebrate of achievements and central role of African Americans in U.S. history.
