House Democrats and Gov. Beverly Perdue are trying to slow a charter school bill that passed the North Carolina Senate last week.
Opponents say the bill would damage traditional public schools and provide little accountability for the alternative schools.
Perdue told the State Board of Education on Thursday she’s worried the Republican-backed measure would strip regular public schools of resources and fail to provide adequate oversight for charters. (Read more)
