You knew they were big. You knew they were evil. From the union-busting actions of their minions in Wisconsin and Ohio to their war on health-care reform, to their assault on the environment and their attacks on the science of climatology, Charles and David Koch have earned their place as the focus of progressives’ scrutiny in the age of the Tea Party — the destructive and and regressive movement they bankroll. But a new . . . (Read more)

Meet in Raleigh to stop HB 115:
The NC Healthcare Insurance Giveaway Act
Rep. Jerry Dockham (R) has proposed an NC Health Benefit Exchange Bill (HB 115) that would basically put the Insurance fox back in charge of the Public hen-house. Where the new national healthcare reform law requires states to set up a competitive health marketplace, Dockham’s industry-sponsored bill (HB115), would give NC Blue Cross a permanent seat on governing board; essentially restrict board membership to insurance executives; and severely limit the board’s power to insist that only high value and good quality health plans be offered. In other words, it would permanently cement NC Blue Cross’ dominant market position and kill any true competition.
Please join us this Tuesday, March 8th at the committee meeting to help stop the Republicans from destroying NC Healthcare Reform.
TIME: 10 :00 am, Tuesday, March 8, 2011
LOCATION: Room 544, Legislative Office Building on Jones Street — behind the Legislative Building at the corner of West Lane and North Salisbury
Directions: http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/help/directions.html
Rep. Verla Insko is on this committee and I think she will start trying to offer amendments so it would be good to have supporters there.
We don’t need signs, just large numbers and politeness.
Your friendly Obama-care Advocate
Sally Goerner

Re: Statement on Gov. Perdue’s Veto of Right-Wing’s Attempt to Sabotage Health Care for All
Gov. Beverly Perdue Vetoed a Sick Law
The North Carolina NAACP Conference of 120 Branches commends Gov. Beverly Perdue’s rejection of the sick bill that was passed by the Tea Party and other Extreme Right politicians who have hi-jacked Mr. Lincoln’s Republican Party. The Governor is absolutely right when she rejected these zealots’ efforts to sabotage President’s Obama’s new program that provides health care for millions of poor and working people who need it. The Governor is absolutely right when she said, "This is an ill-conceived piece of legislation that’s not good for the people of North Carolina."
"The Third Point in our Historic Thousands on Jones Street People’s Agenda," NC NAACP President Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II said, "is Health Care for All. Right-wing zealots currently hold the once-proud Republican party hostage in a time of economic crisis. Their sick law tried to stop the United States from joining with every other developed country in the world in providing access to health care for all our people. Our Constitution, our religious principles, our history, and our commitment to take care of the least of these are healthy ideas. And the Governor’s veto is a sign of a healthy new wind blowing across the State. Thank you Governor Perdue."

On February 28, President Obama reiterated his belief that States should have the power and flexibility to innovate and find the health care solutions that work best for them and announced his support for accelerating State Innovation Waivers and allowing states to apply for them starting in 2014.
Beginning in 2017, the law allows States the flexibility to receive a State Innovation Waiver so they may pursue their own innovative strategies to ensure their residents have access to high quality, affordable health insurance. (Read more)

It is so sad the Republicans will not support our President just because he is a black man. It is so sad they want but don’t want others to have. What about doing what is good for the least of these, those who can’t help themselves. Yes there are some folks who will abuse the system but that is within all parties.
Health Insurance – Why has these jokers not been complaining about everyone having to pay for car insurance?
Life Insurance – I wish it was so that everyone was made to have some type of life insurance because everyone is going to die.
Oh well why don’t these jokers bring something to the table except trying to help those who already have.

U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson ruled that the reform law’s so-called individual mandate went too far in requiring that Americans start buying health insurance in 2014 or pay a penalty.
"Because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire act must be declared void," he wrote, "This has been a difficult decision to reach and I am aware that it will have indeterminable implications." (Read more)
Note: Not going to touch the technicality of the Judge’s decision and will leave it up to those who know the law in depth. I will continue to follow the healthcare reform saga until the final outcome is reached. C. Dancy II – DCN Publisher
