N.C. Superior Court Judge Quentin Sumner reversed a plea deal Monday between the state and a former city of Rocky Mount employee.
Gary Ronald Weeks, 53, was indicted in September following a fraud investigation into the city’s Water Resources Department where he served as the water treatment plant maintenance supervisor. (More)

A city of Rocky Mount employee was indicted Monday in connection with a fraud and embezzlement investigation.
Police reportedly received information about the possible fraud within the Water Resources Department and investigated the allegations. The city’s Human Relations Department staff said Gary Ronald Weeks, 53, was suspended without pay on Aug. 1 and fired Aug. 30. (Read more)
