Edgecombe County Public Schools Board Member William Keith Pittman Responds To Formal Meeting To Be Held On Tomorrow

Thank you Mr. William Keith Pittman for your timely response.

The following is the response that I received. “Butch, It is my understanding that the BOE will meet Mon. 12:30. Since the two people that had been chosen as principal for Princeville and Pattillo withdrew their names on the day of the last BOE meeting, we will meet to consider two new people. Principals need to be chosen ASAP so they can make plans for the new school year. I am not aware of other business that may come up. Thanks for your interest.” Wm. Keith Pittman

Breaking News – Edgecombe County Public Schools Board Of Education Website Says They Are Having A Formal Meeting On Monday July 18 In The Middle Of The Day, But Why?

Board of Education to meet Monday, July 18 The Edgecombe County Board of Education will meet in a formal meeting on Monday, July 18 at the Central Office Board Rooms at 12:30 PM.

So how long has this been posted on the website? There is a certain amount of notice that is suppose to be given. The Central Office is closed on Friday during the summer months so was it posted at the building on Friday? I didn’t see it in the local newspapers online on Friday and Saturday however I finally began to receive my Rocky Mount Telegram print edition for the 1st time Saturday morning but I have been subscribing to the paper online for almost a year now. I will buy a Daily Southerner Friday edition today Sunday morning to see if it was in their print edition.

So what is so urgent that the board has to meet on Monday in the middle of the day? How can one attempt to figure out what could possibly be on the agenda when the notice says a formal meeting?

I wonder why I was not notified because I video the meetings and I am on top of what the board is doing be it personnel to policy. But the main thing is I have a blog and I send out emails about things that are going on locally but not limited to. I should have been contacted to help get the word out but maybe they don’t want anyone to know.

I work a real job so now I have to go to work on Monday and try to get off early so I can attend this meeting. But if I had known on Friday I could have asked for the time off but I don’t know if I will be able to attend the meeting.

I will be sending an email to all of the board members today Sunday morning 12:50 am asking them to respond to my questions above.
