Ward 1 candidates tout local experience – Rocky Mount Telegram

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on May 3, 2012

Response: I am still trying to figure out why Manley is running from a political stand point but I get it from a personal standpoint. I know damn well he is not blind to what the political climate is in Rocky Mount as it relates to RACE. He know quite well how Knight has been a target by the racist white folks who do not want an outspoken black man speaking truth to power publicly.

Manley has benefitted from the works of Knight so what in the hell is his problem? Why is he playing right into the hands of the current racist white folks such as WHIG – TV and some of their strong supporters including Mark Bowling who is in prison and Jerry Fisher who used to co-host a morning show to talk about Knight and still on the scene daily. Watch the WHIG – TV Morning Show daily and see what they talk about or should I say who they talk about almost daily. And then you have some ignant black folks whom have ran against Knight trying to unseat him when they too have benefitted from his works.

Manley one does not have to be retired to be dedicated to doing the work of the city council. The majority of the council are working folks and the majority of other boards and commissions are working folks.

Damn Manley you are out of touch if you do not understand the importance of blocking the merger of Duke Energy and Progress Energy. Obviously the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission thinks it is a problem because they have denied the merger twice.

I am glad Manley realize racism exist but to think it is not in the forefront of every issue in Rocky Mount as it relates to the City Council is just ignant as hell. You see Manley I was in a Common Ground meeting Lewis Turner, Andre Knight before he became a councilman and myself along with several whites and a white person said that some whites said they were going to move out of Rocky Mount if the council became a black majority. Well some moved however even those few they are still trying to run the city although it is a black majority. So Manley sir they created the political climate and it has been this way every since the council became a black majority. There has been so much exposed since this council and like always some folks don’t want the truth to be made known. Manley I wonder would you have been the Chief of Police if it had not been for this council.

Manley but since you feel that WHIG – TV and their supporters love you so much why didn’t you run for the Mayor of the City since you were the Chief of the entire city? Why didn’t you run for that seat and it would have allowed the whole city to vote for you and then we all could see just how much you are loved by all of the people of the city?

Well sir you know we go back to when you wanted to be appointed to fill the unexpired term of the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s position when former Sheriff Phil Ellis stepped down. I don’t have to tell that story because you know.

Rocky Mount Telegram: Both candidates in the Rocky Mount City Council Ward 1 race said they hope voters choose them because of their experience and knowledge of the issues facing the ward and the city. (More)

Ready For The Human Relations Candidates Forum Tomorrow But Still Trying To Figure Out How They Came Up With The Questions That Were Forwarded To Candidates

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on May 1, 2012

I am ready for the forum on tomorrow but I just don’t get it. What is the purpose of the questions that have been forwarded to the candidates? I can’t wait to see how many folks will be interested in those questions that not only will the candidates not be able to relate to but especially the citizens. If all the local and some of the statewide candidates come to the forum the time that it will take for them to respond to those questions will be a waste of time. Oh well just my opinion and you know the old saying opinions are like what? Yep and everybody has one. Oh well see you tomorrow.

“If You Are Scared, Say It! And Get The Hell Out Of The Way!”

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on May 1, 2012

I just love how folks will like my post about quotes and other things that are not controversial but will not comment on the most serious posts that relates to politics and things that are going on around us. When are black folks going to hold other black folks accountable for their actions including me? If you agree with me say it and if you don’t say it however the main thang is, “If You Are Scared, Say It! And if you are scared get the hell out of the way!”

Why Is It Edgecombe County Do Not Have A Black Political Organization Such As The Durham Committee On The Affairs Of Black People?

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on April 30, 2012

On election night when the numbers come in from Edgecombe County the statewide candidates can normally declare victory. Edgecombe County is a power house when it comes to statewide elections.

We don’t have a black political organization because a certain few political pimps have been allowed to pimp Edgecombe County over the years. The political pimps have been allowed to be the political machine over the years while good people have set back and just let them do whatever the hell they want to do. However these good people have talked about the political pimps but they have continued to let Edgecombe County be pimped by the political pimps year after hear.

It is sad that Edgecombe County do not have a legit, respected black political organization that would use a democratic process to invite candidates to be interviewed and to be voted on and then endorsed by the group. The Durham Committee On The Affairs of Black People just recently took 4 days to interview candidates before they endorsed them. But in Edgecombe County 2 – 3 political pimps have been allowed to endorse candidates and to pass out ballots at the polls telling people to vote for their candidates.

Edgecombe County is around 52% black and 42% white plus other so if we would come together and do things democratically we could make some things happen. I recognize and understand that when black folks make things happen all folks benefit.

Right now I would like to see some things happen but we are too divided as black folks and have no political machine in place so therefore as long as we continue to do what we do we will continue to get what we get.

Edgecombe County Politics, Upcoming Candidates Forum

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on April 30, 2012

I was reading a local newspaper and I have to respond to editor’s opinion in his letter: 2012: It’s the year of the Sambo – Princeville, the primary and black political postering. Thanks to Dr. Florence Armstrong for making us aware of the letter on your facebook page. I went out today to pick up a paper to see what was in it and I too find the letter very interesting.

Princeville NC: Well the Princeville 3 ie: Mayor Priscilla Everette-Oates, Commissioners Calvin Sherrod and Isabelle Purvis-Andrews are doing whatever the hell they want to do running the town and black folks allow them to. However Maggie Boyd a former commissioner and Daisy Staton an employee of the town could be added to the list to make it the Princeville 5 because they are helping the Princeville 3 carry out their mission. So until the people in Princeville says enough is enough nothing will change.

Commissioners Ann Howell and Gwendolyn Knight have been fighting the Princeville 3 for years. They are treated as if they are not commissioners because they are left out of the decision making from the start to finish.

The latest mess in Princeville is not sending in the audit on time and the Local Government Commission had to send a letter telling them they have a deadline of April 30th for the audit to be in their office.

Black political postering: I found it funny as hell the editor talked about a pseudo-Civil Rights leading preacher who has stood before the masses and touted the accolades of “Mr. Charlie” but did not call the preacher’s name. But why? Well because I know all of the political players in Edgecombe County I would bet the preacher is Rev. Roosevelt Higgs a precinct chair that should not be. He has pushed some whites agenda and some blacks agenda to keep us right where we are. But Mr. Editor I don’t fault Higgs for what he does but fault those around him for allowing him to do what he does.

Back in the 90’s black folks fought to become the majority on the Edgecombe County Democratic Party Executive Committee but since we have it what in the hell are we doing with it? Many whites stop coming and now you would think it was a black Edgecombe County Democratic Party because of the lack of whites attending. I am talking about white elected officials themselves. They don’t come because they know it is going to be a bunch of ignorance going on at every meeting because Rev. Roosevelt Higgs always keep mess going on. Hell I don’t blame them for not coming. I go so I can speak up and to record the ignance on video that is allowed by the chair Allen Mitchell and others in the room whom allow the mess to go on. Hell everyone in the room knows that Higgs do not live in Speed because there is no living housing on the property that he claims as his residence. The powers that be elected officials and political leaders know this but they allow him to do what he does so until they decide they want to shut him down we will continue to have to deal with his mess. I am so glad this is Mitchell’s last term as the county chair so maybe the next chair will bring about change within the county party because there is much lack of education and the drive to push the Democratic Party forward. We have survived by the grace of God and that is a good thing because he looks out for fools as well.

Sambo: I am not going to get into the Sambo thingy with the Republican Rep. Allen West from Florida. I am more concerned about the Democrats who play both sides in Edgecombe County. I ain’t the only one that knows who they are but I am the only one that talks about it publicly. So what does that make those whom I know, know who continues to say nothing? Again I can go back to Rev. Roosevelt Higgs whom is very much guilty of that when the county chair said he had pictures of Higgs putting up a Republican signs at Edgecombe Community College in Rocky Mount. He shared this with me when I told him I had received calls from Pitt County that Higgs was down there pulling a trailer behind a truck with this same Republican sign in it. So again as long as we allow mess to do on we will continue to get what we get.

My point of view: What tickles the hell out of me is black folks allow so much mess to go on in our communities but do not speak out publicly. Yep they will say it behind closed doors but not where it needs to be said. You see I have received a lot of credit over the years for saying what needs to be said via letters to editor to the local and some statewide newspapers, on local and statewide radio stations, on local tv stations and of course in meetings locally and statewide. Hell I have repeated what others dare to say publicly so therefore I feel good about saying what I say because I know it is right.

I have been actively engaged in politics since the early 90’s and I have seen black folks in action. When I got involved white folks held the majority of the offices in the Edgecombe County Democratic Party Executive Committee. I became the 3rd vice chair of the party not because black folks wanted me so much nor white folks but I was the youngest person to attend the meetings so they had to give me the position by default. I held that position for years but moved up the ladder also again by default.

Today I speak up when foolishness goes on in the meetings and I am not running for anything and don’t have any intentions of running for anything. However my name has come up in the meetings as a nominee for a position on the county executive committee but to get voted down by Safe Negroes because I am my own man and live by my motto: “I have no permanent friends, no permanent enemies only permanent interest.” I don’t give a damn if you are black, brown, white or other if you ain’t right I ain’t with you. But what tickles the hell out of me these same folks who vote against me want my support and then they think I am crazy when I don’t support them. Oh hell no! If you don’t support me now especially when it comes to making a donation to The DCN News Blog/Online TV why in the hell should I feel that will change when you move up the ladder. But these are the same folks who talk about white elected officials don’t do nothing for the black community. But when I ask them what have they asked them to do and they say nothing. Well I be damn.

I am so glad I know who all the players are and can make an informed decision. And when I don’t know something I have some good friends I can call on to get their opinion and trust in them. So when it comes to voting I will tell folks who I am voting for but you can decide for themselves.

Well can’t wait to attend the Edgecombe County Human Relations Forum on Wednesday May 2 at the Edgecombe County Administration Bldg. Auditorium at 6:00 PM. See you there!

Dr. Wayne Talley Superintendent Guest Speaker At Conetoe Chapel MBC Today (Rev. Richard Joyner Pastor)

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on March 20, 2011

image

I was impressed again with Dr. Wayne Talley Superintendent Edgecombe County Public Schools as he spoke to the Conetoe Chapel MBC congregation this morning. Rev. Richard Joyner is the pastor of the church.

Dr. Talley stressed to the children and the adults that one person can make a difference. Dr. Talley showed a short video of how one man made a difference at a professional basketball game. This man just happened to be Maurice Cheeks former coach of the Philadelphia 76’ers. During a game an eighth grader was singing the National Anthem and she forgot some of the words and Cheeks walked over and stood with her. He coached her through the song and by doing so the other team and others in the arena song it with her.

Dr. Talley said if all of us would stand with a child we could make a difference in their lives.

Dr. Talley spoke briefly on the budget cuts within the school system and why he came up with his restructuring proposal.

Dr. Talley seems to be passionate about Edgecombe County Public Schools. I believe he has done his homework and knows what the county needs.

Board member Attorney Teresa D. Bryant was present.

Videos School Board Public Comments; See Who Kathy Winslow Emailed to Support Delaying The Vote, Superintendent’s Restructure Presentation and Board Members, Comments Hopefully Up By Late Saturday Night or Early Sunday Morning

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on March 18, 2011

I hope to have the videos up by late tomorrow night or early Sunday morning.

See who spoke during the public comments at the meeting on Monday night.

Dr. Talley’s restructuring proposal was damn good.

See the ignant comments by board members Attorney Teresa Bryant, Faye Taylor and Ann Kent. I will tear up each board members comments on tomorrow while I am looking at the video. I can live with some of what Janice Davidson had to say but the part she agreed with the others on makes that part of her comments ignant as hell as well.

See what board member Keith Pittman had to say about Dr. Talley having a mentor. You will find that the previous board members all had mentors as well.

Also see the names of the persons who were sent emails via Kathy Winslow asking them to support her request to delay voting on the restructuring proposal.

Also rumor has it that Bernice Pitt is calling her customers asking them to support a white female to be appointed to replace Attorney Teresa Bryant who will officially resign in June. This position is a majority black district and was previously held by Dr. Florence A. Armstrong. The board is a 4-3 white majority and now the rumor mill says “they” want to make it a 5-2 majority white board. Oh hell, I mean oh well.

Stay tuned. I work a real job and do work on the weekend sometimes so therefore I can’t stay up all night tonight and get my advocacy work done.

Definition of ignant. Hell yeah I know how to spell ignorant.

That Racist Daily Southerner Strikes Again As It Relates To The Edgecombe County Public Schools Restructuring Proposal. What In The Hell Is Terry Smith Problem ?

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on March 17, 2011

Terry Smith editor of The Daily Southerner has tried to discredit me for several years. Well it didn’t just start when he came to Tarboro because the racist came by way of the Rocky Mount Telegram where he was previous employed. I have written letters to the editor to both papers for years waking up black folks. I know I am damn good because if I was not Terry would print my letters as written and not take away the crucial points. But this is how racist newspapers operate when they have an agenda.

I sent the following letter to Terry Smith last night to clear up my comments at the Edgecombe County Public Schools Board meeting on Monday night. It is funny as hell how my letter made it in the paper the next day. See my original letter as follows:

Subject: Letter to editor

Letter to the editor:

I am responding to the article titled: Talley defends reorganization plan at meetingbecause I have a problem with the following “Curmilis Dancy provided the only public comments that did not completely bash Talley’s proposed restructuring, citing that most employers do not give their employees notice nor seek input before making similar decisions and that Talley knows what needs to be done more than anyone else.” It should have read I was the only one who spoke in support of the proposal.

I have a problem with the writer’s use of words because for anyone who were not present and have not read my blog thepoliticalagitator.com they do not know what I really said. I am trying to figure out how the writer used the phrase that I did not completely bash Talley’s plan when I stated loudly and clearly that I stood in support of the restructuring plan that Dr. Talley would present to the board during the closed session. However I didn’t know he was going to do it in open session without calling names. So therefore I had the opportunity to hear the plan for the first time outside of what I had heard on the streets and read in this newspaper. After hearing the proposal I stand in support of it 200%.

I agree with Allen Key letter to the editor titled, “On ECPS cuts:’ It is sad… but truth is it is necessary’.”
Board member Attorney Teresa D. Bryant got it right when she echoed what board member Keith Pittman when he asked the audience to give Dr. Talley a chance. Bryant took it to another level and said give him a chance and it will be up to him to rise or fall.
Enough said.

Curmilus Dancy II

Now see how Terry Smith fixed up my letter by leaving out crucial information. It reads as follows:

"Give Dr. Talley a chance"

Hell Yeah I Said It, Now What? Edgecombe County Public Schools I Am Pissed Board Meeting Drama Tonight That Will Be Continued On March 21, 2011

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on March 15, 2011

First of all I know I found my calling back in 1993 when I officially became an advocate for all children black, brown, white and other in Edgecombe County Public Schools. The Student Body Association (SGA) lead by a White President called me to the school to help them resolve a staged walkout because a white male teacher had grabbed a black male around the neck in the hallway.

I know without a doubt that my purpose for being is to advocate for the children of Edgecombe County. I say that because my God is guiding my steps because he kept me away for one year. Tonight is the first meeting I have attended since the new board members were sworn in and the new superintendent was hired. I got to see everyone in action for the 1st time. I usually set up an appointment to meet with the new superintendent but I had not and met him for the first time on this past Saturday morning at the College Round Up.

I heard some folks talking before the meeting began tonight that they thought the superintendent had enough support to pass his restructuring plan but it would be close. Someone said they thought Dr. Evelyn Johnson was going to get stupid tonight and that it may be a 3-3 tie and it would be up to Evelyn Wilson board chair to break the tie.

Dr. Wayne Talley said the board has asked him to look at cuts in the central office every since he began his role as superintendent because the central office was top heavy. The cuts as presented are something that the past 3 superintendents tried to do so tonight’s presentation is not really new.

Well after the superintendent made his presentation to the board I knew Dr. Talley didn’t have the support.

First it was Attorney Teresa Bryant who had a problem with Dr. Talley’s presentation saying she wanted to know who was going to take Diane LeFiles role. Dr. Talley stressed that he was only presenting the roles but she wanted a name. She said since she didn’t have a name that she couldn’t vote on the proposal until she had a name. Well she knew names couldn’t be called during the open session and it was on the agenda to handle that in closed session. She said she needed more time. Dr. Talley asked her did she read her material because the names were there.

Attorney Bryant has moved her child back to a private school and announced her official retirement in June. She was appointed to the board when Dr. Florence A. Armstrong resigned her post. Bryant was elected thereafter.

Faye Taylor new board member and in my opinion a racist because of some things she has done over the years. She had some concerns about the money figures on the 5 yr. and 10 year plan from the state but Dr. Talley addressed them again because he had did so in his presentation. She said she thought it was about state cuts but Dr. Talley said it was not only about state cuts but dealing with the local monies also. She said she needed more time.

Dr. Evelyn Johnson had this eloquent speech and how she agreed with Bryant and Taylor not to rush to make a decision. As usual she did the spill that is about the children. She said in Edgecombe County the adults have always stood in the way and that we need to let this be about the children. She thanked everyone for coming but challenged them to help a child out to help with the literacy rate.

I have heard Dr. Johnson talk about what she felt like was waste at the central office but tonight she must had a memory lapse. But there just may be a reason for that but whatever the case it is not acceptable for me. Just maybe the people should have voted to keep former board member Charlie Cobb in I don’t know. I do believe he would have supported the presentation during the open session atleast.

Ann Kent began by standing up looking for her husband saying she promised him she was going to act like a lady but since he was not present she was going to say what she wanted to.

Kent questioned Dr. Talley’s motives but most of all she said she had talked to Rep. Joe Pat Tolson and he said the board was acting immature because the state had not made a decision yet. Well damn Kent obviously didn’t hear the same presentation that I heard because Dr. Talley said the state said there would be a 5% or a 10% cut so duh. Damn so what in the hell is Tolson talking about? Oh Kent went on and on. But she had to to this because she was representing the folks who attended the meeting tonight from a local church. I have a copy of an email that was sent to others and Ann Kent from former board member Kathy Winslow who sent out emails seeking support to join her in asking the board to delay the vote tonight. So again Kent is actively engaged in representing her friends of the board in times like these because I have been told about other emails and meetings that she has been a part of.

William Keith Pittman talked about being fair and he said when he was a coach he told his players that he would put the players in that he thought was the best players but they may not been the right players. He used North Carolina Tar heels coach Roy Williams as an example. He said Williams was playing another guard until he announced he would be leaving the team and Williams put in another guard. Pittman said if Williams had not put in the new guard the team would not be where they are today.

Pittman said he would do what he feels is right for the children. He said years ago a former superintendent came to him and told him he was making too much money and he had to go. He said he understood where he was coming from and he didn’t question him. He said the superintendent didn’t ask him what he thought, he told him what he was going to do. Pittman said Jay Randall came to him and said some people in the community was upset and Pittman said he will deal with them. Pittman said he told them not to go to the board because he understood. He said he was upset but the person that took his job did and great job and still doing a great job today. He said he recommended his replacement.

Pittman asked the people of Tarboro to give the new superintendent a chance. Meet with him and then come back and he would stand with them.

Bryant said the board had to cut some jobs within the last 2 years and nobody came to support those folks and she has a serious concern about that.

Bryant said if the board is here to act on people and trying to save their jobs then just say it and we can move forward but if it is about addressing positions then we need to have further discussions. I say you damn skippy it is about saving Diane LeFiles and Dr. Lana VanderLinden’s job because that is what the people came to speak on and it was spelled out in Kathy Winslow’s letter that went out over the weekend.

Bryant then echoed Pittman’s comments. She said give the man a chance and he will rise or fall on his own. Well damn again I am missing something because why she couldn’t take that route with voting on Dr. Talley’s presentation and then dealing with her concerns in closed session whereby she could call names. So evidently she couldn’t afford him that opportunity from open session to closed session.

Attorney Janice Davidson said she echoed what Attorney Bryant said and they she would rather go into closed session to find out more before voting.

Evelyn Wilson board chair said she thanked everyone for coming however they could trust that whatever is done tonight or anytime it would be decent and in order. She said the board will do whatever is right for the children and she would see to that. She said she challenged all those present to show up at the meetings and let the board know they have helped a student out in the county. She stressed the importance of doing what is right for the children.

The board went into closed session around 10:00 PM and they came out around 11:30 PM. The board voted to table the vote until Monday, March 21, 2011 6:30 PM. The meeting ended about 11:45 PM.

Well I am pissed because all of these folks who spoke out tonight and the board members were talking about it was about the children. Oh hell no. What I seen tonight is a prime example of a group of grown folks telling the children it is okay to disrespect those in authority such as Dr. Talley. You see all of these folks complained the superintendent didn’t come to them (community) with his proposal first. Well again I ask way they do that at? I repeat during restructuring employees are given options be laid off, resign, retire or be fired.

Note: I hope to get the video up of the meeting in the next couple of days.

Been a long day and night. I will read this again today and make necessary corrections.

My Address To Edgecombe County Public Schools Board Meeting 3-14-11

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on March 14, 2011

Tonight we witnessed a group of white folks at their best. They came out in full force to support 2 staff members vs 1000’s of Edgecombe County Students. This shows how they want to change the way business is conducted. Why is it they always want to change the rules to benefit them and not everyone?

There were about 10 – 12 white speakers whom I was told by a white person that they were all basically from one church.

What we witnessed tonight was 10 – 12 bad examples for protocol, respect and discipline for conducting business.

I was the only person to speak in support of Dr. Talley’s presentation and the only black person. So maybe I am the one who set the bad example for showing respect to a man who was hired to run, yes run the Edgecombe County Public Schools System. The man is making around $141,000 a year and damn if he can’t evaluate and see what needs to be done for the betterment of the system then we don’t need him.

The following is what I prepared as I was waiting in my car outside the central office waiting to go in. I was the last speaker.

I need no applause to validate what I am about to say.

My name is Curmilus Dancy II. I live at 127 Midway Lane Tarboro NC.

I  attended ECPS and I have a child in the middle school and 1 in her 2nd year at NCCU. I have served on the PTO, School Improvement Team (SIT), ECPS Board Advisory Committee and other.

I stand today in support of the restructuring plan that Dr. Talley will present to the board during closed session.

He should know better than anyone what needs to be done because that is his role. It is nothing new that the chief of any place of employment and/or organization he/she should evaluate and take actions that makes business sense.

Today we should be here supporting what is best for the children of Edgecombe County and I trust Dr. Talley’s presentation will address that.

I have worked on my present job for the past 24 years and they have never asked for our opinion but gave us options be laid off, resign, retire or be fired.

And then I said enough said.

The end.

Edgecombe County Politics – Black Folks Why Would You Vote For These Republicans? Don’t Let These Guys Buy You Because You will End Up With Crumbs

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on October 19, 2010

C. B. Daughtridge Republican candidate for Senate District 3 established Flagmarsh Homes which is now named something else

Are you familiar with Flagmarsh Homes in Rocky Mount that was established after the Flood of the Century? I have been told that the houses didn’t have adequate insulation. Black folks were sold these homes and I have been told that the payments ballooned. I heard that many folks were moving out in the middle of the night because they could no longer afford to live there because of the way their payments were set up. So who established Flagmarsh Homes? Daughtridge. I heard that Flagmarsh has a new name, wonder why?

I was told that some black churches were going to do some radio spots for him but I haven’t heard them. I was told one church said that Daughtridge had supported them with money with some things they are trying to accomplish. Well he give them some crumbs and and they are happy as hell. They haven’t seen hell yet if he is voted in. I remember him when he was an Edgecombe County Commissioner. But this pastor do not know him because actually he is not from this area.

Vote for the incumbent Clark Jenkins

Garland Shepheard Republican candidate for House 23

Just because Shepheard sold you a Ford Automobile you do not owe him a damn thing. He had automobiles on his lot for sale and you purchased and paid for it. So what do you owe him? Nothing absolutely nothing since you paid for the automobile the buck should have stopped there. Shepheard’s wife works for Richard Burr US Senator for now because Elaine Marshall is going to send him home.

Vote for the incumbent Joe Pat Tolson

A vote for Daughtridge and Shepheard will give them an opportunity to be a part of the redistricting process which will not be good for Edgecombe County and the other counties they represent.

Elections 2010

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on January 29, 2010

This is a follow up message to a message that I sent out in October 2009.

I have been actively engaged in politics as a grassroots community activist since the early 90’s. I have paid my dues and helped many of you get elected and re-elected.

I have spent my own monies and wore out several cars over the years traveling around the county and across the state being actively involved in the NC Democratic Party and the NC NAACP.

I spent most of my years as an advocate for children in the Edgecombe County Public Schools System long before I had any children in the system. I have challenged the Edgecombe County Public Schools System one on one and I have seen many things put in place.

Today I love it when I attend meetings and see some others meeting about issues especially school issues. I don’t recall seeing these folks at the meetings.

I feel good today about all I have accomplished and if I do not attend another meeting, I have done my part so my living have not been in vain. However I will not quit doing what I do however I have changed the way I do things.

I have been blessed over the years because the Good Master continue to bless me with my health and strength. I have also been blessed with one of, if not one of the highest paying jobs east of Raleigh 23 years ago this month on January 26.

I have always had the support of my family and while my mom is resting in peace, my dad continues to support me. My dad blessed me with a new car this month for my birthday. I strongly feel that the Good Master has worked through my dad and a couple of others so I feel my work has not been in vain.

I have asked for donations over the years for the work I do so my question to you is, have you donated to The DCN? Many of you have benefitted from my services. Being a community activist comes with a price especially when I have a blog, online videos/pictures and other tools that help me to educate folks about what is going on around them.

If you are a candidate and you are running for a seat in my district you need to contact me.
