Last week I heard that Rev. Roosevelt Higgs was calling around trying to get support to get Shelly Willingham Rocky Mount appointed to the Edgecombe County Board of Elections. They said he was also seeking support for some lady from Tarboro but they could not think of her name. Later I got a call that Attorney Charles Rountree was trying to get appointed also. Well Higgs nor anyone supporting Rountree called me for my votes since I am a precinct chair.
It is so damn funny that I have never seen anyone from the Democratic Party Executive Committee attend a Edgecombe County Board of Elections meeting other than Allen Mitchell Edgecombe County Democratic Party Chair and Genoetre Penny-Boone former chair over the years.
My question to the Edgecombe County Democratic Party Chair Allen Mitchell and the County Executive Committee is why do you continue to allow Rev. Roosevelt Higgs to make damn ignant fools of you? Those of you who support his mess.
I appreciate Allen Mitchell presenting the names of the current board members however I do have a problem with him not consulting with all of the precinct chairs. Hell it ain’t but so many chairs and vice chairs and he could have polled us over the phone but I did not receive a call from him.
Higgs knows the chair does not know the North Carolina Democratic Party Plan of Organization so he confuses the process and intimidates the chair so he can accomplish his mission. Although the process does not be carried out correctly Higgs does not care as long as he accomplishes his mission because it leaves the chair looking ignant.
The meeting on yesterday make me embarrassed to be a member of the Edgecombe County Democratic Party Executive Committee because I have been attending the Edgecombe County Board of Elections meetings over the years however I did take several months off from attending the meetings however I attended the June meeting.
The current Edgecombe County Board of Elections representatives Rev. Asbury Batchelor and Jackie King have been doing a great job and I don’t know of any complaints about their work. None of you County Executive Committee members have attended their meetings so you don’t know what in the hell they have done. Since there has not been any complaints about Rev. Batchelor and King what are your reasons for not supporting their nomination as presented by Allen Mitchell County Chair other than he not consulting with all of the precinct chairs? Hell from what I have been told all of them did not receive a letter about the meeting last night and if they did, they still would not have known what the business at hand would be unless they attended the meeting. But for those who could not attend and may have sent a proxy they would not have been able to tell them how to vote.
I am lead to believe that obviously the majority who voted and actually stay until the voting took place obviously followed Higgs lead on this one. So since you followed his lead or whatever your reason, you are ignant to the fact of what goes on in the Edgecombe County Board of Elections board meetings. The board get paid $40.00 before taxes for each meeting and there is normally one meeting per month unless it is during election time and more meetings are needed.
I am very disappointed in the Edgecombe County Ignant Party, I mean Democratic Party. During the District Convention in April I challenged all of you to attend other meetings across the county but none of you have taken me up on it. But then you vote against the current Board of Elections members who were appointed by this party 2 years ago when none of you have any clue of what they do. Allen Mitchell knows what they do because he has attended many of their meetings. Mitchell recommended the current Edgecombe County Board of Elections members stay onboard and then you go against him and the faithful board members.
