A day after the death of Dr. Steve Hoard, one thing is clear. He will be missed by the people in Tarboro and Edgecombe County. "Steve ate, slept and breathed Tarboro and Edgecombe County," said Sam Noble, the town’s retired town manager. (Read more)

I was saddened to hear about Dr. Steve Hoard resigning from the Tarboro Town Council recently due to illness.
Today I was saddened again after reading about his death in the The Daily Southerner.
I have always liked Hoard because he said what he meant, meant what he said. He researched what he brought forth and worked hard to get it accomplished. He was the force behind getting the laptop initiative in the Edgecombe County Public Schools System among many, many other things.
Dr. Hoard’s wisdom and fight for trying to make Edgecombe County a better place to live, work and play will truly be missed.
