NAACP Sponsors Education Discussion with Nash/Rocky Mount Public Schools Superintendent
Rocky Mount, NC – The Rocky Mount Branch of the NAACP will host a discussion with Dr. Anthony Jackson, Superintendent of the Nash/Rocky Mount Public Schools. “With the many changes in public education funding and priorities that have taken place over the last year, we need to know what the state of education is for all of our children in the greater Rocky Mount area,” Andre’ Knight, President of the Rocky Mount Branch said. “We want to make sure that the Nash/Rocky Mount School Board and Superintendent are given every opportunity to address concerns and issues that parents and students have that depend on a sound and fair public education.”
The meeting with the Superintendent will be held in the NAACP Conference Room located at OIC on 402 E. Virginia Street at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 22nd. President Knight also stated, “We also want to hear about the school reassignment process, what efforts are in place to increase graduation rates, the role of technology in curriculum and student programming and how the system is encouraging better engagement between parents, students and the communities in which they live.”
The dialogue with the Superintendent is open to anyone to attend and questions and interaction with the public will be encouraged.
