RALEIGH – Donice Maria Harbor was a humanitarian, grassroots activist, public servant and friend. She peacefully departed from this life on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. Donice Maria Harbor was born on October 20, 1972, to Thomas and Stella Harbor. She was educated in the Forsyth County Public Schools, graduating from Carver High School in 1991. The Homegoing Service for Soror Donice Harbor will be held on Sunday July 19, 2009 at the Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church (5095 Lansing Drive, Winston Salem, North Carolina, 27105).

The Omega Omega Ceremony will begin at 2:00pm
Visitation will be from 2:30-3:30pm 

The Funeral will begin at 3:30pm

Dear Friends,

Most of you are aware that our beloved friend Donice is fighting a courageous battle with cancer. During my visit with her recently, Donice and her mother shared with me that she wants a scholarship set up in her name at her Alma mater, Fayetteville State, for a promising student majoring in Political Science.

I thought that it would be a good idea to "jump start" her wishes with a kick-off at Zydeco Downtown.  I have gotten in touch with Fayetteville State and have set-up the Donice Marie Harbor Endowed Scholarship Fund.  However, more needs to be done for someone who has always asked for so little and gave so much.

The kick-off fund-raiser will be Sunday July 26 2009, 5:00 pm at Zydeco Downtown 208 Wolfe Street, Raleigh (City Market). We are hopeful that Donice will be able to attend.  If she is not able to attend, we will do a video for her.  Please show some love for our friend during her difficult time.  If you are unable to attend, please send a contribution to Donice Marie Harbor Endowed Scholarship Fund, Division of Development and University Relations, Fayetteville State University Alumni House, 2nd floor 1200 Murchison Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28301. Note: Donice Harbor my friend whom I met several years ago has been a staff member with now Governor Beverly Perdue and former Lt. Governor for many years. Donice has been a faithful and loyal staff member over the years as she traveled the state listening to the people and taking their concerns back to Raleigh.
