What A Hell Of A Price To Pay To Make A Name For Myself, I Ain’t Running For Nothing But Others Want Me To Help Them

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on May 21, 2012

Some folks say I am out to make a name for myself. Really? I don’t have to do what I do but I can’t help myself. I do it because I strongly feel it is my calling and I am addicted to activism.

Do you realize that many times when I spend a Saturday going to places like Greensboro to proxy for a State Executive Committee member or attend a local Democratic Party meeting and other meetings that I am losing money. I could be working making overtime but yet I choose to spend my money traveling across the state paying for my own gas, food, using my video camera and photo camera and if I take my family food for them also. This does not count for what I do during the week after work and sometimes taking off during the week using vacation time.

And many times folks want me to pay to attend their banquets even though I video and take pictures promoting them.

But you say you appreciate what I do but have you ever donated to the cause? Family, friends, enemies you hear me now?

Special thanks to the 3 people whom have contributed this year.

Seeking Donations

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on April 29, 2012

Okay here I go again seeking donations.

I do not like asking for donations however it takes money to do what I do. I have equipment video camera and a portable dvd burner that I can make copies on the site. It is about time for a new one been had this one for several years. I have a digital photo camera and I buy 8 GB SD Cards and I do not delete pictures when they are full. Although I put them in my Kodak Gallery online I still like keeping the originals. It take gas and sometimes I may stay over night but I always try to stay at home. All of this comes out of my pocket. I sometimes have to take vacation time to be able to attend day events.

I try to capture historical moments across the state especially as it relates to politics. I try to educate folks on what is going on around them so they can be aware and informed whenever they may have to make decisions such as voting and etc. You can enjoy the videos on The DCN TV and photos from the convenience of your home.

I am so thankful for the couple of donations I have received this year. One person whom I have not heard from in years sent me a $200.00 donation just a regular citizen not a politician or other titled person. One person gave me a $100.00 donation but I presented them with a video and photos of an event I did featuring them. A candidate gave me a $25.00 donation.

Thanking you in advance.

Open letter: Thank You DCN Supporter What A Blessing

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on February 20, 2012

On Saturday, February 11, 2012 I went to work and got off early to go video and take pictures at a friend’s mother’s homegoing service in Pinetops NC.

After the service I went to the graveside and to the community center to the repass. While everyone was eating I was still working. I set up my equipment and made dvds of the service and I put the pictures on a cd so they can have them developed at a Walmart or another location. I also put the pictures on a dvd so they could look at them on a regular dvd player.

After leaving the service I went to Wilson NC to Bill Ellis and ate. While on the way home I went back to Pinetops to the post office and I noticed an envelope from someone whom I had not heard from or seen in about 5 – 6 years. I was almost afraid to open the letter however it said in care of The DCN so I didn’t know what to really think. When I opened the envelope it was a yellow piece of paper torn and inside of it was a check and that was it. I was overwhelmed. The check was quite much coming from an individual and I had thought my eyes were fooling me. God is good. Because this supporter was a blessing to me, I can continue to be a blessing to others be it making people aware of what is going on around them politically and/or etc. or being able to be there for a family or individuals in a time of need.

I want to take the opportunity to thank you The DCN supporter for your generous donation.  I thank you for feeling that the work I do is appreciated. I thank you because you know that it takes money to do what I do because it takes equipment and my time to dedicate to do what I do.

Again thank you The DCN supporter for you generous gift and know that the monies were spent on some new software that I needed for a new laptop that I recently purchased. I needed the same software that I have on my other laptop so that I can do more at the same time and save me time.

Please contact me whenever I could be of service to you in the future because when we network together we help each other. This is what it is all about working together.
