Response: I can’t wait to see how the June Convention turns out. I hope Democrats leave there unified but I am concerned about the vote during the special called meeting.

I have talked to several folks in person and read much information and there seems to be several different things going on.

However again I say if everyone follow the Plan of Organization and the other things that the SEC put in place then it will all work out. But talking to folks it seems that there are issues real or perceived that have folks tore up. I am just getting into it since serving as a proxy for the past 2 meetings and I am still trying to put it all together.

Hundreds of Democrats attended the special-called meeting in Greensboro to select a new chair.

Because I was serving as a proxy I was not at the camera but inside the area where the SEC Members were sitting. Therefore you will only see those who are on stage at the main microphone.

I gave my opinion of the meeting a couple of days ago so now I am giving those who didn’t attend the opportunity to view it from the comfort of their home. Damn you can’t get it much better than that and free too. LMBAO!

I did not record David’s speech after he returned because both of my 2 hour batteries died. However don’t think I would have stayed in the meeting anyway because I went out to the lobby to post on my blog about this event.

Response: The 6.2 million voters may not know who David Parker is but the 700 SEC members does and that is what mattered on Saturday. I was going to attend the meeting anyway and my main concern is like all meetings to see that the group follow their rules and by-laws. However I was able to serve as a proxy so therefore I was able to vote. Oh hell! I mean oh well! Charlotte Observer: A tiny percentage of North Carolina’s 6.2 million voters could tell you who David Parker is. An even smaller number give a whit about inside baseball at the state Democratic Party executive committee.

Yet the party’s sexual harassment scandal, and Parker’s self-centered decision to stay on as party chairman despite his role in it, are embarrassing the Democrats and threaten to hurt the very candidates Parker is supposed to help elect. By putting himself first and his party second, Parker thumbs his nose at his party’s top elected officials toward no good end. (More)

What Role Did Gov. Beverly Perdue, Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton And Other Elected Officials Who Wanted David Parker NC State Democratic Party Chair To Resign, David Parker, NC State Executive Council and NC State Executive Committee

What role did Gov. Beverly Perdue, Lt. Gov. Walton Dalton And Other Elected Officials whom Wanted David Parker NC State Democratic Party Chair To Resign, David Parker, NC State Executive Council (around 60 plus members) and NC State Executive Committee around (600 plus members) play in the road to the meeting that should have never taken place.

Several weeks ago it surfaced about the negative events that were going on within the Democratic Party. Jay Parmley Executive Director was accused of sexually harassing a staff person and Parker and the attorney supposed handled the situation. However this brought on Parmley resigning, Sallie Leslie a longtime staff and I believe some others resigning their post as well.

Gov. Beverly Perdue, Lt. Walton Dalton and some other elected officials asked David Parker to step down. It was reported that Parker met via telephone with the State Executive Council and Parker said that he had the support of the council. Well Gwen Wilkins 1st Vice Chair said that was not totally correct. I understand it was about 28 – 30 folks on the call however the body is made up of around 60 folks. I understand that during the call no one said anything much but 2 – 3 people said they supported Parker but no call for a vote. Sources say some who were not on the call expressed they didn’t agree to supporting Parker. Enough on that I believe you see where I am coming from unless you are one of those ignant damn folks at the meeting on yesterday whom claim they couldn’t understand the motions.

So after meeting with the State Executive Council Parker told Gov. Perdue and the others that he had the support of the State Executive Council so he thought their request for him to resign would go away. Nope they didn’t accept that.

Now because of the pressure being put on Parker by Gov. Perdue and the others now Parker had to call a special meeting with State Executive Committee. Well sources say that Parker was directed to set some rules for the meeting which included setting it up for a top elected official to chair the meeting hint name starts with a D. Well after we received the agenda and I seen Rule 8. Presiding chair of elections. The Presiding Officer shall not preside over his or her own election  in which case the parliamentarian designated at the convening of the meeting shall preside until such election is concluded, I knew there was something going on. However people ran to the mike to challenge that because the Democratic Party Plan of Organization reads as follows: Section 4.02 Elected officers reads: Vacancy and Succession for Elected State Executive Committee Officers. Vacancies occurring among the elected officers of the state executive committee shall be filled within sixty (60) days following the creation of the vacancy. The state chair shall call a meeting of the state executive committee to fill that vacancy and any other vacancies that might be caused by the action of such committee in filling the vacancy. If, for any reason, there should occur a vacancy in the office of state chair, the first vice chair, the second vice chair, the third vice chair, the secretary or the treasurer, in that order, shall preside and in the absence of all of the foregoing officers, any member of the state executive committee may preside.

So since Parker didn’t honor Gov. Perdue and the others request to step down when they didn’t accept his report from the State Executive Council why did he think they were going to support the report from the State Executive Committee? It appeared to me that Gov. Perdue and the others wanted him out and nothing was going to change that because dealing with Parker do not change anything bout the negative events that were going on within the Democratic Party that surfaced several weeks ago.

When the meeting was over yesterday the negative events still exist because keeping Parker on do not address them. However since he was a part of the negative events and there is nothing in place to address those events, why do anyone in their right mind think the issue of the negative events will just go away? I feel that when longtime staff worker Sallie Leslie resigned leaves many with unanswered questions that will not just go away.

Well I have learned some things since the meeting on yesterday about the role that Gov. Beverly Perdue, Lt. Gov. Walton Dalton And Other Elected Officials Who Wanted David Parker NC State Democratic Party Chair To Resign, David Parker, NC State Executive Council and NC State Executive Committee played.

If Parker felt he had not done anything wrong then he should have stood his ground. Gov. Perdue and the others didn’t put him in so it was up to the State Executive Committee to take him out. But Parker allowed the pressure of them to make him do what he did and at the expense of the 1st Vice Chair and the State Executive Committee and those who were proxies like myself. Again yesterday’s meeting was a damn waste. He knew he was not going to resign so why in the hell did he stand up there and do it? I don’t give a damn about what happened before yesterday. On yesterday I expected Parker to honor his word when he stood on the stage and gave his remarks and then officially stepping down.

Now I am waiting to see what role President Obama will play or if any.

Response: Now this is a damn good article summing up what took place today. He was writing his article and I was posting on my blog as we were in the lobby of the Sheraton Four Seasons. I didn’t stay in the meeting to wait for David to come back one thing because my batteries had gone dead on my camera however I had had enough for one day. A damn mess.

David Parker, the besieged state Democratic Party chairman, said this evening that he would remain in his post after the party’s ruling committee voted not to accept his resignation, Rob Christensen reports from Greensboro.

In doing so, Parker defied pressure from party leaders from Washington to Raleigh to step aside because of the concern that his handling of sexual harassment accusations by a staffer would damage the party’s efforts in the fall. (More)

Gwen Wilkins 1st Vice Chair North Carolina State Democratic Party Willing To Move Up To Replace David Parker But Somebody Said The Timing Ain’t Right! Damn!

Just read on The Dem Dem Facebook page whereby someone posted that Gwen Wilkins sent out an email saying she was willing to move up to the chair position if she is nominated and of course if she won the nomination.

Someone said the timing was not right but when is the right time? Who makes that call? I thought the Democratic process is to nominate someone and then vote on them and then if they are not elected then I will agree that timing is not right but to say it without giving a reason is not good enough for me. So can someone tell me why the timing is not right? Just maybe you can convince me. Thanking you in advance.

I find it quite interesting that David Parker didn’t just resign and move on to leave others to set the stage for the calling of the meeting to replace him. However it appears that he was probably directed by some others to not resign but to call a meeting. I do remember he said he had met with the officers and they all wanted him to stay on however Gwen Wilkins reported that was not true.

Some folks have this thingy about once a person is appointed or already in a position that it sometimes give them an edge. So I wonder is that the case in this position.

Again I find it quite interesting the meeting was set for Mother’s Day Weekend and College Graduations so why is that? I do believe once a person steps down you have x amount of days to call a meeting. However I do believe the next regularly scheduled meeting would have been held in June.

Enough on this I will just wait until Saturday to see how all of this unfolds. I don’t like it but whatever.

NC Democratic Party Plan of Organization Reads 4.05 DUTIES OF THE STATE CHAIR AND CERTAIN OFFICERS – Is There Anything Else I Need To Know That Is Not Listed Here?

There will be a very important meeting held on Saturday May 12, 2012 and there will be 3 offices to be filled VI. Election of Vacant NCDP Offices: (NCDP Chair, NCDP 2nd Vice Chair, NCDP Secretary) per the Agenda.

All who may be interested need to be familiar with 4.05 DUTIES OF THE STATE CHAIR AND CERTAIN OFFICERS per the NC Democratic Party Plan of Organization.

What we don’t need is persons who wants to be elected to do just what they want to do. If you have a problem with the duties then this job is not for you.

State Executive Members it is my belief that individuals vote for folks who they like, folks who look like them and for whatever personal reasons however I challenge you to keep in mind the following. We can no put folks in office who do not fight for equality for all Democrats be they black, brown, white and other and/or only wants to move up because they already hold titles and because they are Mr. & Mrs./Miss So & So. Will these folks truly represent grassroots people?

I have read some conversations concerning what a certain group of folks want to see in the new chair. They have talked about how the outgoing chair has ran the party and how they want to see the new chair run the party. I want to see the new chair follow the rules of NC Democratic Party Plan of Organization. I also recognize and understand that the SEC votes on how they want to see the party ran such as specifics. However I hope they have the grassroots folks and all folks be they black, brown, white and other interest all included.

What I have read is some folks are concerned with how the money is used within the party. Will someone that has been a member of the SEC please respond to let me know how you feel about how the money has been used under David Parker’s term and how you feel it should be used when the new chair is elected?

The problem I had with David Parker is that I didn’t like how he responded to the complaint sent to him from a member of the African American Caucus of The North Carolina Democratic Party about the March meeting. And then shortly after this meeting I learn about the issue within the NC Democratic Party where the State Executive Director resigned. However I feel that all of this was just bad timing and something needed to be done. But since I am not on the State Executive Committee I am just on the outside looking in, I don’t know how I would have handled such if I would have had a say.

I did receive a call today from someone and they kind of enlightened me on how they see all of this unfolding and I tend to see the same thing. Again I hope whomever is elected as the new chair it will be someone who will move the party forward with the best interest of all Democrats.

And most of all again I hope this meeting is carried out properly. I hope everyone act like adults and respect the rules and by-laws of the Plan of Organization. And if that is done I believe the meeting will be productive.

I Just Don’t Get It, Black Folks Allow Mess To Go On And Do Not Hold Those Responsible Accountable For Their Actions

It is sad that black folks allow mess to go on and do not hold those responsible accountable for their actions. But they say they are about what is right and good for greater good of the community. I am so glad I know who are about what is right because your actions speak for you.

Recently the African American Caucus of the North Carolina Democratic Party called a meeting in Raleigh NC and it appears that meeting was only called to remove the secretary. I could understand it better if it was an outright reason that everyone could see why the president wanted the secretary removed. I have not been able to come to a conclusion to why it was necessary for the president to travel from Charlotte NC and the other black folks who traveled from across the state to Raleigh to come to do absolutely nothing but to remove the secretary. My problem is the AAC-NCDP didn’t follow their own policy and procedures so therefore the meeting should been null and void. 

The North Carolina Democratic Party Executive Director Jay Palmer has resigned due to allegations of sexual harassment and the North Carolina Democratic Party Chair David Parker has been asked to resign because of the way he handled the situation. Both of these guys refused to address the issue with the African American Caucus when the secretary sent them a complaint.

It is funny how things turn out and so soon.

But the sad part is the executive director and the chair didn’t have to do anything because the African American Caucus is a black thingy and just an avenue to divide black folks across the state but damn black folks can’t see it.

What good is the AAC-NCDP? I have not been able to get that answer from members and non-members.

But when it hit home for these black folks and they are the ones that are receiving the injustice they will be crying out for help. I get involved early on so those who are responsible for mess will know that I ain’t bout to take their bull manure.

I am reminded of the following:

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn’t a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Breaking News: Dem leaders reject Parker’s stand – WRAL

Response: See what Gwen Wilkins had to say about Parker’s latest email stating he has support of the Executive Council.

WRAL - Wilkins was on the call Parker referenced. She called WRAL tonight to offer the following statement.

"Chairman Parker stated in his email that he had met with the Executive Council via teleconference, and that he was gratified by their strong support for his continued chairmanship," Wilkins said.

"I was elected because dedicated and loyal Democrats had faith that I would not sit back and be quiet when the time came to speak up. Martin Luther King Jr. said that a person should not be judged by where he stands in times of comfort and convenience, but a man should be judged by where he stands in times of conflict and controversy."

"With that said, let me be clear: that all–and I stress ALL–those on the [state Democrats'] Executive Council have NOT indicated their support of Chairman Parker," Wilkins said. "It is my opinion that the statement made by him is misleading to the Democrats that elected him to office and to our voters." (More)
