Tarboro NC – Jamica C. Ashley and Geoffrey Cooper Two More Great Journalist Have Left The Area
Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on September 3, 2011
I hate that Jamicá C. Ashley former reporter at the Tarboro Daily Southerner and Geoffrey Cooper former reporter at the Rocky Mount Telegram have moved on. I truly enjoyed their reporting because they did a great job. However I understand that one must do what they got to do and that is to move on when they are ready.
Jamicá C. Ashley is now a reporter with the Lake Gaston Gazette. I had little to no conversation with Ashley however I truly admired her writings.
Geoffrey Cooper joined AmeriCorps Vista. I had several conversations with Cooper during his time with the Rocky Mount Telegram.
I truly admire young black men and women who are doing great things. I believe these 2 young folks are going places in life because they are on the right track.

That Racist Daily Southerner Strikes Again As It Relates To The Edgecombe County Public Schools Restructuring Proposal. What In The Hell Is Terry Smith Problem ?
Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on March 17, 2011
Terry Smith editor of The Daily Southerner has tried to discredit me for several years. Well it didn’t just start when he came to Tarboro because the racist came by way of the Rocky Mount Telegram where he was previous employed. I have written letters to the editor to both papers for years waking up black folks. I know I am damn good because if I was not Terry would print my letters as written and not take away the crucial points. But this is how racist newspapers operate when they have an agenda.
I sent the following letter to Terry Smith last night to clear up my comments at the Edgecombe County Public Schools Board meeting on Monday night. It is funny as hell how my letter made it in the paper the next day. See my original letter as follows:
From: mailto:thedcn@embarqmail.com

To: Terry Smith Editor The Daily Southerner
Subject: Letter to editor
Letter to the editor:
I am responding to the article titled: “Talley defends reorganization plan at meeting” because I have a problem with the following “Curmilis Dancy provided the only public comments that did not completely bash Talley’s proposed restructuring, citing that most employers do not give their employees notice nor seek input before making similar decisions and that Talley knows what needs to be done more than anyone else.” It should have read I was the only one who spoke in support of the proposal.
I have a problem with the writer’s use of words because for anyone who were not present and have not read my blog thepoliticalagitator.com they do not know what I really said. I am trying to figure out how the writer used the phrase that I did not completely bash Talley’s plan when I stated loudly and clearly that I stood in support of the restructuring plan that Dr. Talley would present to the board during the closed session. However I didn’t know he was going to do it in open session without calling names. So therefore I had the opportunity to hear the plan for the first time outside of what I had heard on the streets and read in this newspaper. After hearing the proposal I stand in support of it 200%.
I agree with Allen Key letter to the editor titled, “On ECPS cuts:’ It is sad… but truth is it is necessary’.”
Board member Attorney Teresa D. Bryant got it right when she echoed what board member Keith Pittman when he asked the audience to give Dr. Talley a chance. Bryant took it to another level and said give him a chance and it will be up to him to rise or fall.
Enough said.

Now see how Terry Smith fixed up my letter by leaving out crucial information. It reads as follows:
"Give Dr. Talley a chance"

How Racist Newspapers Work Against Black Folks See How The Daily Southerner Twisted My Comments When I Addressed The School Board Last Night “Talley defends reorganization plan at meeting”
Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on March 15, 2011
I was the only BLACK person that spoke last night and I made it clear I was in support of Dr. Wayne Talley’s proposal. So why in the hell did the writer twist my message? Oh probably was not the writer but Terry Smith editor of this paper because he don’t give a damn about me and likewise here.
In todays article, “Talley defends reorganization plan at meeting” see my comments per this racist newspaper. This is how they twisted my comments: Curmilis Dancy provided the only public comments that did not completely bash Talley’s proposed restructuring, citing that most employers do not give their employees notice nor seek input before making similar decisions and that Talley knows what needs to be done more than anyone else. Now read, “My Address To Edgecombe County Public Schools Board Meeting 3-14-11.” My exact words oops there it is: “I stand today in support of the restructuring plan that Dr. Talley will present to the board during closed session.”
So can someone tell me how in the hell did this paper come up with I did not completely bash Talley’s proposal. I have had many issues with this newspaper over the years. They have quoted me at a meeting when I videoed the meeting and didn’t speak. But they took what Roosevelt Higgs said I said and ran with it. They wanted me to come to the newspaper and meet with 3 white guys at the time to discuss what I supposedly had said when I didn’t say anything. I told them hell no I was not going to come to their office.
Back in the late 90’s when Frank Taylor was the editor he and I used to go at it about the Democratic Party when I was the Edgecombe County Interim Democratic Party chair. Folks began to drop their subscriptions and Taylor was soon gone from the paper. He sent me an email around a year or two ago threatening to sue me because he said I said I got him fired. I lmbao’ed. Oh well.
A couple of years ago myself and some others held a Press Conference on the grounds of the Edgecombe County Public Schools Central Office about a position at Princeville Elementary School that was given to board member’s husband. Terry Smith current editor called and left messages on my phone repeatedly because he wanted to know the name of the person that the group were speaking in support of. I wouldn’t return his calls but since I like documentation I emailed him and we went round and round and I never told him. You see I ain’t the average black man who Smith and his likes can intimidate.
But then some folks call me a racist. Hell atleast I post the information as is and then I may give my opinion but to put a twist on others comments I don’t do that.
Since this newspaper will not print my letters to the editors I quit sending them a couple of years ago. I was too effective for them. But everywhere I go people still ask am I the guy that used to write all them letters to the editor in the Daily Southerner and the Rocky Mount Telegram.

So It Is Personal?
Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on November 30, 2009
So will longtime Tarboro Town Manager Sam Nobles be leaving?
I can’t answer that question but it appears that it may be a possibility.
See what was reported in The Daily Southerner.
So will Tiger Woods tell what really happened? I don’t know but I feel it will come out and soon.
See what they are saying here.
If the rumor is true then it will be a sad day for another brother. Money, sex and drugs are 3 major downfalls so why would any man in his right mind do something like this knowing it will be headline news?
