Subject: Protest Against Congressional Social Program Cuts
On Monday, November 22, 2010 at NOON in front of the Kansas State Capitol, a protest against Congressional Social Program Cuts will take place, Scroggins stated in an interview wih Monica Evans, Fox News Reporter Kansas City. The protest took place in front of the Federal Building in Downtown Topeka, Kansas on 11/17/10.
The purpose of the protest was to encourage citizens across the country to protest individualy and collectively, and give a gentle nudge to Senator Sam Brownback (Kansas Governor-elect to do the right thing before leaving his Senate position.
The emergency unemployment insurance program expires at the end of November. If Congress fails to extend it, this lifeline will be cut for 2 million workers. Because many families won’t have income to spend in their communities or support their families, more jobs will be lost.
Targeted government program cuts include Social Security, Medicare, etc. Congress is considering asking the President to issue an executive order that would inevitably lead to reductions in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
THIS IS “Simply Unacceptable". The cuts are unacceptable because the economy is in terrible shape with the loss of jobs through employer cutbacks, inflation, high taxes, etc. It is up to the citizens of this country to speak loudly and clearly to the politicians that the middle and lower classes are tired of carrying the major financial burden of running this country while the “rich get richer, and the poor get poorer”.
