It’s President Obama Who Needs to ‘Stop Complaining’ and Get to Work – Source: COLORLINES

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on September 30, 2011

President Obama’s speech to the Congressional Black Caucus’ annual meeting this past weekend shouldn’t have even been news. As a whole, it was unremarkable. He offered up his now-standard talking points for his belated jobs bill—Republicans are hypocrites on taxes, we’ve gotta have shared sacrifice, pass this dead-on-arrival bill now, and so on. He peppered it with his usual code-switching for black audiences, prominently dropping his g’s and letting his old campaign-trail swagger shine. But all in all, it was nothing special—except for two things that tell us a great deal about this president and his relationship to our community. (Read more)

CBC: Impotent, Irrelevant, and Tied to the President in 2012, Even If Obama is the Black Herbert Hoover

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on September 1, 2011

Why does the Congressional Black Caucus, forty of the most senior members of the House of Representatives, pretend that touring the country with a phony, embarrassing “job fair” is a substitute for the massive jobs and poverty-reduction programs they should have fought for during the four years they held an overwhelming majority in the Congress, two of them with a black Democrat in the White House? What kind of Colt 45 bottle has the CBC and the black political class crawled into? And is there a way out? (Read more)

Obama’s Black Backlash – Source: The Daily Beast

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on August 24, 2011

With a stinging budget defeat behind them and unemployment in the black community soaring to 16 percent, members of the Congressional Black Caucus say they’re done waiting for Barack Obama to fight their battles for them.

Instead, the 43 African-American lawmakers say they’re taking matters into their own hands and will carry the fight to Tea Party Republicans, whom they blame for Obama’s latest lurch to the right. (Read more)

Facebook Comment On CBC Congresswoman Maxine Waters Going After The President

Posted by Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) on August 18, 2011

I have no problem with criticizing black, brown, white and other folks however I try to look at the whole picture to see if those I criticize hands are tied by default. I see “our” President hands being tied.

I see people wanting “OUR” President to be just a “black” President and that can’t be. He was elected by all people and not because of just the black vote but daily I see ignorance settling in as more “blacks” criticize “OUR” President. I see a difference in how “OUR” President was elected versus the elected officials on the local level whom are elected within a black majority district.

How many local folks are are holding their local representatives accountable for their actions? I don’t see it because when I attend meetings they are not present. Hell they don’t even stand up for their children by attending their child’s school and board of education meetings.

If the black elected officials whom were sitting at the table before President Obama was elected wants to criticize him then let’s look at their record to see what in the hell they have done since they have been in office. Let’s criticize everyone even the criticizers.

So Waters what is the CBC track record and then what is your and other CBC members records as individuals?

Now to the comment below, it was Right on!!

InciteTv Netwrk

and whats even more disgusting to me is now everyone is a political commentator – but only a few were talking when Bush targeted the poor – only a few were speaking as he raped Clinton’s surplus and turned it into Obama’s deficit – Its funny to me when I see blacks down a president because they PERCEIVE "he’s not for black people" – ignorant – why do you think republicans want him out? His policy is based on an equalization – how much more pro black can you be? Education, Health care, restoring proper taxation on the rich – are just a few major initiatives – now everybody talking about debt ceiling as if that was something other than – to discredit the president – debt is not a problem – economy stimulation is – ok last point never say we should run the country like our household budgets – that’s stupid. Here’s why in my household I dont print my own money – in my household when I go bankrupt it doesn’t effect the world economy – in my household the dollar isn’t based on my financial performance – these are vehicles of propaganda – and just like share cropping in the 30′s & 40"s – blacks will buy anything from masta’s store.

Butterfield, CBC Discuss Jobs with Obama

Washington, D.C. – Congressman G. K. Butterfield met with President Barack Obama at the White House this week along with members of the Congressional Black Caucus to discuss job creation and economic growth.

“While the economy has added 2.1 million private sector jobs over the past 14 months, including more than 800,000 jobs since the beginning of the year, too many Americans families are still hurting and the unemployment rate is unacceptably high—especially among African Americans,” Butterfield said.

Butterfield said that Obama stressed that the Administration continues to focus on economic recovery and on the communities that have been hardest hit. The 75-minute meeting took place on Thursday in the State Dining Room of the White House.

Obama also highlighted several domestic policy initiatives including Growth Zones. This designation provides tax incentives for investment and employment, and streamlines access to government assistance in the hardest hit areas of our country.

It was the first meeting between the full membership of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) and the president, a former CBC member, since Obama took office in 2009.

The CBC is an official, non-partisan Congressional caucus that was formed in 1971 to seek greater equity for African Americans. The CBC currently includes 43 members. Butterfield serves as the CBC’s second vice chair.

Butterfield said that members also pressed the importance of adopting a “10-20-30” approach to federal funding formulas. He explained that this would direct at least 10 percent of funding to communities where at least 20 percent of the population had lived below the poverty line for the last 30 years.

“Too often our most troubled communities get left behind,” Butterfield said. “Without resources, these communities will continue to suffer from the lack of quality schools, affordable health care and economic opportunities. As we move toward recovery, we need to make sure not to leave entire communities behind.”

He said that in the United States, there are 474 counties where 20 percent or more of the population has been living below the poverty line for the last 30 years.

Butterfield said that members also expressed concerns about the economic challenges facing young people. In response, Obama discussed the new public-private partnership that posts job opportunities for low-income youth on web at www.dol.gov/summerjobs.
