A high-ranking Sanderson Farms executive has acknowledged that the rezoning of several hundred acres of land for a proposed poultry plant was incorrectly done.
Nash County officials say they are deciding on how to fix several errors in the a Nov. 1 rezoning of 150 acres at the southeast quadrant of N.C. 97 and Interstate 95. Most of the land in that area was zoned for residential use, and the Nash County Board of Commissioners rezoned the acreage to general industrial zoning — that allows more than 195 uses, possibly including the company’s poultry plant.
