Washington (CNN) — Money to pay for a discrimination lawsuit brought against the Department of Agriculture by black farmers remains stuck in a legislative body described as a place where bills go to die.
In July, the House approved a war supplemental bill that included money to pay for the settlement. It now remains stuck as senators examine the bill. (Read more @ CNN)
Note: It is funny that I was in a conversation about what our President has not done as it relates to black farmers and black folks in general just yesterday. The other person said that our President has recognized other folks by compensating them. I found the following to very, very interesting, “As a senator, Barack Obama sponsored "Pigford II," a measure in the 2008 Farm Bill that reopened the case. In February of this year, his administration brokered a $1.25 billion settlement for Pigford II. But Congress missed two deadlines, one in March and the other in May.”
Now with this in mind, this probably means that there are other things that our President has worked on and is currently working on that some folks may not even realize.
I tell everyone that I am willing to give our President the opportunity to do his thing and after his term is up, I will either vote for him or against him. But I be damn if I am going to get caught up into his every move because I can’t keep up with everything he does. I will not agree with everything he does and I am not going to write him off because he do not accomplish everything in 4 years that is dear to me.
A message to some white folks. Why in the hell don’t ya’ll leave this man alone? If you don’t want to support him simply because he is black then vote against him like you did during the past election. Stop lying on the man and other black folks in positions just because.
A message to some black folks. Why in the hell do you think our President just because he is black he can fix every damn thing over night when there has been 40 Presidents before him? Not only do some black folks want our President to fix mess over night, but they want some local officials to fix mess on the local level that they inherited for 40 years as well. Ya’ll need sit down, shut the hell up and give the man a chance. C. Dancy II – DCN Publisher
