Over the past several days as I communicated with some others it has really bothered me how our young boys/men are walking around showing their behind.
It bothers me that we allow those who don’t work to pay for their pants to be able to walk around and show their behinds. It seems that the more and more I see these young boys who wear their pants sagging off their behinds they are beginning to sag even lower. It seems as if they are in a contest to see how low can they go.
So what can we do?
As parents you can control what your children wear. Now I understand all momas and dads are not real parents so others must try to reach these boys.
We whom call ourselves good parents, churchgoing folks, business people, members of organizations and etc. must address these issues.
In my opinion it is hard to send a message to the young boys who are showing their behinds because 1st their parents allow them to show it. Secondly we don’t say anything to other young boys when we see them so if the parents are not telling them then they think it is okay. And third schools don’t truly enforce it.
Some schools have dress codes but some still let them walk around with their pants sagging. I see a lot of sagging during sporting events and they should not be allowed to enter and once inside if they are caught showing their behinds, they should be kicked out of the event and off the premises. This will send a message to the parents because they will have to come and pick them up. It is a waste of time for us (others) to say anything to these boys if we don’t know them personally because if the school do not enforce a dress code during sporting events then what can we say? Well we can say something but these boys don’t have to pull them up.
Now it is a whole new ballgame when we have young boys who are not school age and suppose to be young men. These boys don’t give a damn so you can’t treat them like the school age boys.
I truly believe that our black men in sports, movie writers and musicians but not limited to have to do something to help us teach our young boys/men to stop embarrassing the black community by showing their behinds in the negative since they have their attention. I feel that unless there is a strong message coming from these men of standard that we will continue to lose our young boys/men for decades.
I am sending a message to the black men in sports, movie writers and musicians but not limited to, to start showing your behinds by sending a message to the young boys/men that the real way to show their behinds is not by allowing their pants to sag.
Note: I changed the wording throughout because I think you should get the message. I know that sometimes people don’t get it unless certain choice words are used. C. Dancy II – DCN Publisher
