The State Board of Elections fined the campaign of Gov. Bev Perdue $30,000 today for its failure to report 42 campaign flights on private aircraft as donations during her 2008 run for governor.
The board, which has three Democrats and two Republicans appointed by the Perdue, voted down party lines to kill a push by the GOP to hold public hearings where the governor’s staffers would be questioned about the flights under oath. (Source: News & Observer)
